In 1996, when we first came to Panimaquin we noticed children had no social skills. The entire family worked isolated in their fields from sunrise to after sunset during planting and harvesting time. Otherwise, the children sat on the ground playing next to their mother as she sold carrots and cauliflower all day in the hot sun. The villagers did not understand that children are able to learn from birth. The first time the parents came to see what their children had learned they were amazed!
