Goodbye Cadillac It was hard to let it go, but
the present government wanted us to pay $8,000 in taxes to import the car given
to us by Ed Wilkinsin in Fl. We donated it to the volunteer firemen of Itzapa
who were able to trade it for a much needed 1989 Dodge Ram ambulance.

Since July, apart from the routine of school and
church, we have been busily enlarging the facilities. Bernard and the men have
laid 1000 sq ft of ceramic tile floors, have built 300 ft of shelves, 7 new
tables, and finished 800 sq ft of roofing. They also installed electric for the
new factory, new class room, and 3 store rooms.

In
our village, children seldom get to celebrate their birthdays, because their
families can’t afford extra costs. We use this opportunity to minister to the
project and their extended families. Trish and Sarah introduced Lazaro and
Glendy, our new teachers to everyone during the first fiesta of the new school
year.

Mingo, one of the father’s of the project,
received Christ two years ago. He has been an active leader of the Catholic
Church. One of the customs in our village is to live together before marriage.
Mingo has worked hard to convince these young couples that God wants them to be
married. He was successful in encouraging three couples to marry!
